Charlette "Charlee" Shroyer

Painting is passion of mind and soul for Taos artist Charlotte "Charlee" Shroyer. The process starts with just a few swipes of paint on canvas. The symphony has begun--here and there another color, but not yet a hint of the final image. At last a subconscious memory of an experience, place, or person, a few blurred images, usually figures, nudge the painting forward. Where it will go is still beyond conscious comprehension but she knows intuitively that the finish line lies ahead.

Colleagues and patrons describe her art as "full of energy," "coming from a place deep within--a place of her own vision," reminiscent of DeKooning and the Mexican artist Tamayo. Shroyer has exhibited nationally and internationally in galleries and juried online exhibits in Kentucky, Nevada, Florida, Texas, Connecticut, New Mexico, Italy-just to name a few. In 2009 she already has shows scheduled in Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Italy.
