Carl Ellis

Carl Ellis was born and raised in Erie Pennsylvania and earned his BFA in photography, at Edinboro University. After graduation, he moved to New York City with hopes of becoming a commercial photographer. After years of field experience, he realized Commercial Photography was not for him. He now manages the retouching department at one of New York City's largest advertising agencies, and keeps photography on a more personal level.

Although I do not to limit myself to one particular subject, I am slowly classifying myself as a conservation photographer. The change of seasons, a dramatic landscape, a wild animal, are obviously striking. However, I tend to look deeper into my world, and capture images that may forever go unnoticed; an Icicle melting in the morning light, decaying leaves on the forest floor, a fish flowing by, scenes that some, sadly, may never notice.

I hope to challenge viewers into opening their eyes, and realize possibilities exist everywhere.
