Art Story:
Asking someone why he/she is an artist, is like asking,
“Why are you who you are?”
People who grow up in the same country,
in the same state,
in the same town,
on the same block,
grow differently.
Within each person exists a difference of soul.
My best friend with a thousand freckles
dances, talks, glows.
She works in PR by day and DJ's by night.
My husband with invisible renewable energy
analyzes, fidgets, fixes.
He works in technology and loves the outdoors.
I with the charcoal-smudge stained fingers
listen, absorb, reflect.
I work in art and tell our story in all the ways that I can.
Artists are people whose lives are narrated
by an internal dialogue that seeks
physical form.
Artists are people with the
characteristics,
drive,
and ability
to enhance the tale of
the human condition,
making it more beautiful,
more relevant,
and more alive.
I am an artist because
I want to use myself to reflect
my world,
my knowledge,
my perspective,
and my life.
I am an artist not only because
I want to do all of this,
but because
I want to share all of this with you.
Artists are people who wish to
provide a valuable aesthetic reflection
to people of every variety of vocation and soul,
thereby,
highlighting the innate wonders of our multi-faceted selves.
